Friends around the Campfire

Campfire John Whale said: Hi Guys. Long time no hear. Interesting reading the comments on the 1973 'Sunshine' film. Margaret said she didnt know where you could get a copy of the film. I googled it (Now I am retired, I have the time to chase these things down) and came up with this link. I havent followed it but it may be worth a look for anyone who is interested

Bless Friends of John Denver (special thanks to Christine) and the wonderful mans music for bringing us together. Moved house this time last year to an even more idyllic farmhouse, bliss!!! Fingers crossed for clear skies tonight, but I think we are too far north. Be kind to each other, blessing from us all. June, Michael and the boys xxxx

Campfire Paul & Val said: Hi.
The Perseids Meteor Shower.
We were out last night about 11pm looking at the sky & managed to see a couple of meteor's, first time the sky has been clear of cloud for a week. The moon is still there, but will go in a couple of days & the sky will be darker.
We may go down to the beach nearer the 12th August where there is no light pollution etc.
Is there anyone else looking, please tell us if you manage to see any?
Take care, love Paul & Val. X

Campfire Paul & Val said: Hi, to all our friends, how's it going?
It's a Colorado Rocky Mountain high, I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky, friends around the campfire
and ev'rybody's high.
Well it's that time of the year again when we can see the Perseids Meteor Shower, (23th July-20th August) the best night/early morning being Thursday/Friday, 12th/13th August, maximum shower.
It's the fire in the sky that John Denver saw in his 27th year, (his first summer in Aspen in 1971) camping at William's Lake. Of course the experience of that summer & of coming home, he went on to write one of his best songs, Rocky Mountain High. It's one of our favourite songs, a great song of well being & finding yourself.
The meteor shower is best viewed around 2.00am till dawn,(13th Friday morning)facing north east & then look straight above, with no light pollution etc. Its going to be a good year this year because there will be no moon & the sky will be darker. (new moon will be below the horizon in England most nights during this period.
Lets hope it will be a clear night on the 12th/13th and we can see, as John described it, one smoking across the sky.
Of course you do not have to wait till 2.00am in the morning (or the 12th) to see the meteor shower, you may be lucky to see a couple once it's gets dark etc.
If you require any information on the Perseids Meteor Shower, please contact me.
Hope all our friends are well?
Take care, love Paul, Val Emma & Daisy. XX

Campfire Sandra said: Hi Tony.
Being 60 is really young!! I have to say that as I'm going to be 60 in February and I don't want to get old. Let's all stay under 60, or be able to have a trip to Aspen as a compulsory part of all retirement packages!! I wouldn't mind that!

Campfire Anthony Hornby said: Hi Christine,
Many thanks for your birthday greeting on Facebook, can't believe that I am 60 now, I feel a little depressed and old, by the way I have come away from the Facebook site, as I feel that it is TOO public, and I would like to thank Margaret Graham for the 'Sunshine' film info.
Kind Regards
Tony
