John once said that, after he was gone, he would like his friends to have a big party and tell stories about him, and he hoped some of the stories would be good ones!
This is a place for all Friends of John Denver to gather around the campfire and share your stories and memories of John, so post here and join the party!
Mark Robinson said: Rene was absolutely brilliant at Rose’s party, and Michiel did a truly excellent job with the YouTube clips. I’d also like to publicly thank Michiel for the videos that he has uploaded for me after a ‘musical evening get-together’ at Rosemary’s caravan in Cumbria a few weeks ago. (These can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/MarkRobinsonMusic). His English is a great deal better than my Dutch is ever going to be! We have had a few smiles over some of the expressions that our languages share, too - and some of the more obscure ones that they don't :-)Finally, I promised Rosemary that I’d give her caravan a plug! It is in such a beautiful setting and is a lovely place to stay if you want to see the Lake District and the surrounding area. Posted by: Mark Robinson on: 27-Aug-2008 10:39pm |
Rose said: Thankyou for the Birthday Greetings! If anyone is interested, many of the clips from my recent 'Redundancy Celebration' are now on You Tube, thanks to my good friend Michiel. Rene agreed to sing a selection of my favourite songs by: Chris De Burgh, James Taylor, Dave Mallett, Elvis, Jim Croce, John Denver and, of course Rene Wingelaar!! It was a perfect evening, surrounded by friends, listening to my favourite songs, by my favourite singer! Unfortunately, due to space restrictions at the venue and my limited budget, I was unable to invite ALL my JD friends to the celebration, but, I hope you will enjoy some of the clips. Rene's You Tube Chanel is SongForTheLife (http://uk.youtube.com/user/SongForTheLife) Enjoy! Looking forward to catching up with everyone on September 13th. Rose said: Hi again everyoneI am responding to the global e mail from Christine regarding the forthcoming Denver Day. I do hope you will show your support for Lynda and Veronica, who have put a lot of time and effort in to planning and organising their first Denver Day. I think they were very brave to offer to organise a D Day in Staffordshire, from Cambridge and Peterborough! I do appreciate that attending Denver Days can be an expensive business: Entrance tickets, Raffle/Tombola/Auction prizes and tickets, contribution for lunch, pre concert meal, fuel, concert ticket, and for some members, overnight accommodation too. Gill Regan and I have discussed ways of making the Day/Weekend more affordable for our members. We have sent our proposals to Christine, so as Christine said in her message, it would be helpful if as many members as possible could attend. I am sure Gill and I are not the only two members who have ideas, so come along on September 13th and share your thoughts. It would be so sad if the club was disbanded due to lack of support. Paul & Val said: Hi, how's it going? It's a Colorado Rocky Mountain high, I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky. Well it's that time of the year again when we can see the Perseids Meteor Shower, (23th July-20 August) the best night/early morning being this coming Tuesday/Wednesday, 12th/13th August, maximum shower. It's the fire in the sky that John Denver saw in his 27th year, (his first summer in Aspen in 1971) camping at William's Lake. Of course the experience of that summer & of coming home, he went on to write one of his best songs, Rocky Mountain High. It's one of our favourite songs, a great song of well being & finding yourself. The meteor shower is best veiwed around 2.00am till dawn,(13th Wednesday morning)facing south east & then look straight above. with no light pollution etc. It's going to be another good year because there is no moon & the sky will be very dark. We were out last night at around 11.30pm & it was quite a show then, seeing about 10 in 10 minutes. One going, as John descrided it, smoking across the sky. It was like a firework rocket, the best we'd ever seen. Lets hope it will be a clear night on the 12th/13th. Hope all our friends are well? We will not be able to come to the next Denver Day in September. Unfortunately I cannot get that weekend off from work. Now looking forward to March Denver Day, see you all then. Take care, love Paul, Val Emma & Daisy. XX Posted by: Paul & Val from: Heacham, Norfolk, England on: 09-Aug-2008 3:28pm Web Site: John Denver Looking for Space |
